Coronation Street's Fiz and Tyrone to make another shock Hope discovery

Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs are set to make another shock discovery amid the Hope Stape storyline on Coronation Street.

Viewers will know that Hope became fixated on biological father John Stape last year, leading to her suspension from school after she tried to re-enact one of the serial killer's crimes.

While she has been on her best behaviour since then in front of her parents, Hope has secretly been listening to an old tape of John that he recorded before he died.

In new scenes on the soap, Fiz and Tyrone think that their daughter has turned a corner following her actions last year, though are unaware that she has been listening to the tape.

Sam sees Hope in the café and discovers that she has been listening to the tape. Hope explains to him that through listening to her father's voice, she has been able to get to know him better.

However, later on at home the tape unspools, and Tyrone manages to fix it, pressing play only to discover what's on it as it plays in the room. Sam relays what Hope told him about why she's listening to the recording.

But how will Fiz and Tyrone react to this turn of events?

Speaking recently to Digital Spy and other media, producer Iain MacLeod explained: "Hope develops a toxic curiosity about John that leads to fairly interesting blackly comedic territory. She becomes slightly obsessed in a way that causes problems for Fiz and Tyrone.

"They'll face some difficulty parenting Hope going forward. Without giving too much away, Hope's troubled behaviour ends up in a fairly acrimonious feud with an adult neighbour that involves a chinchilla!

"Hope's behaviour will become increasingly difficult over the course of the year but there's also extremely light-hearted bits."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
