Coronation Street star Sair Khan promises "hard-hitting" story for Alya

Coronation Street star Sair Khan has promised that there are going to be some "hard-hitting" storylines for her character Alya in the near future as the show progresses into the New Year.

In an interview with Inside Soap, the actor opened up about what we could expect to see from her in the future.

"Oh my gosh! There is so much going on for Alya right now," she said.

"I'm deep into filming a storyline that is going to affect a few families on the Street, and I'm working with characters I've never worked with before," she teased.

"It's going to be hard-hitting, and quite explosive around New Year and beyond. It's been exciting to film," she added.

Alya is currently in the middle of an ongoing storyline involving Stu, as she tries to solve the mystery of Stu's wrongful murder conviction. But it looks like the new storyline that Sair has teased is going to be something completely different.

Speaking about why Alya so strongly believes that Stu is innocent, Sair said: "Alya is definitely a person who trusts her gut instinct, and Stu's been nothing but kind to her family. Alya sees this as an opportunity to put right previous wrongs, and she does truly believe in Stu."

"Plus, some things happen that just don't seem quite right to her, and that gets her to thinking this story isn't finished," she added.

In the same interview, she also revealed that she has loved having her character play detective and work with Dee-Dee.

In upcoming episodes set to air next week, we will see Alya go behind Stu's back and continue working on his case, even when Stu tells her that he wants to drop it in the hopes of getting the chance to connect with his daughter and granddaughter.
