Coronation Street confirms Dev Alahan romantic reunion

Coronation Street has confirmed a romantic reunion to come for Dev Alahan and Bernie Winter.

Fans will know that the pair have a close history, having hooked up in the past on a casual basis – though Dev has never really seen it as a relationship.

Things hit somewhat of a snag recently following Dev's son Aadi getting shot during a recent showdown between Kelly Neelan, Gary Windass and Kieron Edgerton.

While Aadi has been recovering in hospital, Dev has been struggling, feeling guilty for not being able to protect his son.

During some cleaning work at Dev's house, however, Bernie accidentally smashes the first golf trophy Aadi won, leading a furious Dev to sack her. He later apologises and admits he regrets his outburst.

In new scenes, Aadi encourages Dev to give things another go with Bernie, if that's what he really wants. Dev later goes to Number 5 and admits to Bernie that he still thinks about her a lot, suggesting they try things again – leaving Bernie pleased.

Yet he still has reservations about having her back as a cleaner, leading a cash-strapped Bernie to call upon her lookalike Fern to see if she could do more jobs impersonating her.

Will this decision land Bernie in hot water?

Star Jane Hazlegrove has admitted that the lookalike plotline was actually devised by her after years of being mistaken for Jane actress Gabrielle Glaister.

"Jane and I have been mistaken for each other for years and years," Glaister said. "Me constantly denying that I was in Casualty, Jane insisting that she wasn't in Brookside."
