Coronation Street's Daisy delivers upsetting news after shock death

Coronation Street's Daisy Midgeley has to deliver some upsetting news to Jenny Connor tonight (September 28), but she's on the wrong track.

The ITV soap has launched a tragic new storyline, as Jenny's fiancé Leo Thompkins lost his life in a high-stakes showdown with Stephen Reid earlier this week.

Stephen has since embarked on a desperate cover-up by trying to conceal the truth about Leo's fate.

In Wednesday night's (September 28) visit to Weatherfield, Jenny is confused as Leo hasn't been home all night.

Jenny wrongly believes that Leo has been on a boozy night out with friends ahead of their planned move to Canada. However, Daisy fears there could be another explanation.

Before his death, Leo had confided in Daisy by telling her that he was having doubts about his future with Jenny.

This followed Jenny kissing Stephen – and Leo's father Teddy warning him that she couldn't be trusted.

Seeing that Jenny is fearing the worst over Leo's safety, Daisy breaks the disappointing news that he may have simply got cold feet over their future.

With everyone still oblivious to what really happened between Leo and Stephen, how will a confused Jenny react to the suspicions that Leo has dumped her?

Earlier this week, Todd Boyce – who plays Stephen – revealed that his sly character will steal Leo's suitcase, phone and passport to fuel the mistaken impression that Leo left for Canada.

Todd told Digital Spy and other media: "Stephen goes back to the scene of the crime. I think he's guilt ridden. He's at the back of Underworld and he sees Leo's phone, which they were scuffling over. It had been forgotten about on the ground.

"Stephen manages to make it seem like Leo is in Canada. He sneaks into the pub, because he overhears from Gemma that the suitcase and the passport are in the back room. It was very creepy sneaking into an empty pub and doing that.

"So for all the world, the passport's gone, the suitcase is gone, he's sending text messages saying everything's great in Canada. So it's the perfect cover."
