Spoilers for Coronation Street follow.

Coronation Street aired a dramatic episode this evening as viewers found out the verdict of Toyah's murder trial.

Earlier this year, Toyah and Imran Habeeb were involved in a car crash after leaving a police station. Imran dragged Toyah out of the car, saving her, but while she was sent off to hospital, Imran suddenly went into cardiac arrest and ultimately died.

Later, a flashback episode revealed that Toyah and Imran had argued in the car journey over his lies in court when trying to get custody of Alfie. Toyah later admitted to Spider that she actually intended to crash the car and was purposefully trying to kill Imran. Toyah's sister Leanne overheard this conversation.

Toyah was then put on trial for the murder of Imran and the result of the dramatic case was announced in tonight's episode, which was initially delayed due to ITV's coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Toyah was found not guilty of murder by the jury but, while that might seem like good news for Toyah, she clearly was not content with the outcome. She said that she didn't feel like celebrating and wanted to be by herself, while she also noted that she knows what she truly is.

Saira made things worse when she confronted Toyah and said that she has robbed Alfie of a father and she will never forgive her. Spider, however, is overjoyed that Toyah had been found not guilty.

"I'm so glad the jury got it right," he said.

He later said that he planned to stick with Toyah and would even choose her over his job with the police if that is what it comes down to. Toyah, however, said that she is ready to get back into her activism work and try to save the planet, looking for a distraction and remedy for her guilt.

So, while Toyah has been found not guilty by the jury in the dramatic trial, her story is far from over.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
