Rob Mallard has been at the centre of some dramatic and emotional stories in his years on Coronation Street – so it isn't much of a surprise to learn that he feels a need to lighten the mood on set from time to time.

The actor, who plays Daniel Osbourne on the ITV soap, revealed that he likes to play the odd prank while filming – and Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley, has been the receiving end of them lately.

"Everyone's really childish, well, childlike, there's a difference between childish and childlike!" Mallard explained to OK!

Speaking of Daniel's love life, for many, he will always be thought of as part of the pairing with Katie McGlynn's Sinead.

Sinead passed away in 2019, which brought an end to Mallard and McGlynn's successful on-screen partnership. But the actors remain close friends off screen, and they recently reunited at an awards ceremony.

Katie joked on Instagram that it was "always nice bumping into your widower at an awards ceremony" while sharing a photo of the two together.

Daniel's other recent love interest Nicky Wheatley recently left Weatherfield, with actress Kimberly Hart-Simpson confirming she had finished up her latest stint in the role.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
