Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn and Rob Mallard reunite

Coronation Street stars Katie McGlynn and Rob Mallard have reunited once again, almost three years since the former on-screen couple shared their final scenes together.

While Rob is still very much a part of the cobbles as Daniel Osbourne, Katie McGlynn bowed out of the ITV soap in 2019, with her character Sinead passing away from cervical cancer in an emotional storyline.

Over in Weatherfield, Daniel has struggled to come to terms with Sinead's death over the years, but off-screen, Katie and Rob are still firm friends.

Just a few months after heading to Amsterdam together, the pair have reunited once more at an awards ceremony in London.

Sharing a sweet selfie with fans on Instagram, Katie joked: "Always nice bumping into your widower at an awards ceremony".

Katie's post comes after Rob recently opened up about their close friendship away from soapland, as he explained that the tragic scenes they shot together "cemented" their bond.

"We were mates anyway, although I think that final storyline cemented our friendship; if you do a story like that together, you naturally become very close," Rob explained.

"We can sometimes go six weeks without seeing each other, but I always think the test of a true friendship is when it doesn't matter how long it's been since you last saw each other, it's like no time has passed at all. And that's what it's like with me and Katie."

As well as offering a glimpse into their off-screen friendship, Rob also revealed how Katie has responded to Daniel's budding relationship with Daisy Midgeley.
