Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street will revisit murderous Pat Phelan's story next week, as Todd Grimshaw makes a shock discovery at the undertakers.

Following Todd (Gareth Pierce)'s recent scheming, he has been dumped by partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and shunned by most of the Street – but one person who has supported Todd is George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), his boss at the undertakers.

Next week, Todd decides that he wants to show his gratitude to George for standing by him when everybody else has turned against him following his underhand behaviour.

Todd gets to work on a thorough clear-out of the storeroom at the undertakers, hoping that George will be pleased. However, it's clear that George has something to hide as he attempts to mask his uneasiness over Todd's rummaging.

What to Read Next

George's fears are realised when Todd emerges from the storeroom, clutching the deceased Phelan's ashes, outraged that George has been hiding them for all this time from his mum Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), who was married to the villain at the time of his death.

George admits that he has never found the right moment to tell Eileen about the ashes and hasn't been sure how to handle the situation.

What will Todd decide to do with his new discovery?

Eileen will probably be far from pleased to be reminded of her former husband, who was revealed to be a calculating murderer after she had married him.

After Eileen discovered the truth about his nature, she had a terrifying showdown with him on a clifftop which resulted in him seemingly falling to his death – but it was later revealed that Phelan had survived and he made his way back to the cobbles to continue his reign of terror.

After shooting Michelle Connor and his own daughter, Nicola Rubinstein, Phelan was killed by his old nemesis, Anna Windass.

Eileen has already been seen struggling to move on from her traumatic experience with Phelan, having found it difficult to be intimate with former love interest Jan Lozinski. Could this discovery set her back again?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, August 27 at 7.30pm on ITV.
