Coronation Street's Evelyn Plummer could face heartbreak, as Arthur Medwin secretly visits the hospital.
In scenes airing next week, Maureen Lipman makes her return to screens as Evelyn following lockdown. Evelyn is preparing for a trip to the Lakes with her love interest Arthur (Paul Copley), discussing sleeping arrangements with him.
Arthur, however, is distracted by a call before they set off on their trip.

The call ends up delaying the pair's departure, and although they do travel to the Lakes, they return to Weatherfield early. Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) is confused as their story about what happened on the trip doesn't make sense.

Evelyn apologises to Arthur for the sleeping arrangements and making him sleep on an inflatable mattress. She asks for another chance, promising that things will be different if there is a next time.
After their chat, Arthur discreetly makes his way to the hospital for unknown reasons.
Evelyn and Arthur end up planning another holiday, this time camping in Norfolk. At work, Evelyn responds to Dev denying her holiday request by saying he should stick his job, which impresses Arthur.
Elsewhere on the cobbles, Ray Crosby will target the Underworld factory as he continues his plans to buy out properties, and David Platt will be pushed to breaking point over his worry for Shona.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, October 12, Wednesday, October 14 and Friday, October 16 on ITV.
