Coronation Street viewers were left horrified tonight (May 25) as the full extent of Shona Ramsey's memory loss was made apparent.
Having returned to the soap, Shona is now experiencing the devastating impact of being shot on Christmas Day last year.
In tonight's scenes, Shona refused to leave the hospital with her husband David Platt, whom she can't remember, insisting instead to go home with her son Clayton Hibbs.
However, what she'd forgotten is that Clayton is currently serving time in prison for kidnapping her last year.
When reminded about the incident by her key worker Alice, Shona pretended to remember and asked to visit him in prison.
Once there, however, Shona didn't recognise her son at all – it was previously revealed that she'll only remember Clayton as a youngster, not at his current age.

Clayton was stunned to realise his own mum didn't recognise him, but he'll later use this to his advantage to turn her against David.
Horrified by the extent of Shona's memory loss, viewers soon took to Twitter to share their sympathies.
"Shona's back #Corrie. But I feel so bad for her. Clayton has brainwashed her again," tweeted one person.
Another posted: "Oh no, Shona doesn't recognise her own son."
"I hope Shona gets her memory back soon. As I vouch for David and Shona. They are a lovely couple," added a third fan.
