Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has opened up about the challenge of co-parenting with ex-husband Alan Halsall following their public fallout.

Lucy-Jo, who played Katy Harris in the ITV soap, welcomed her baby son Carter with partner Lewis Devine back in February, while she shares six-year-old daughter Sienna with Alan.

Lucy-Jo and Alan divorced in 2018 after nine years of marriage, but continue to raise Sienna together. However, when Lewis referred to her as "our daughter" on social media, it sparked a furious response from Alan and rumours of a feud.

In a since deleted Instagram post, Alan wrote: "You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one & call her your own! But not my daughter."

Now, speaking to OK!, Lucy-Jo has opened up about how she ignored the drama and continues to co-parent Sienna with Alan.

"I had literally just given birth to Carter when he posted that so I didn’t see it and my head was elsewhere. He quickly deleted it so he must have regretted it," she said.

"I didn’t bother bringing it up with him. Lew and I were both too focused on Carter so it just didn’t get our attention."

After Lewis clarified that there wasn't actually a fallout over the social media exchange, Lucy-Jo continued: "No, but the thing is, everybody who has a blended family knows it’s not easy. You can’t pretend that it is.

"Me and Alan sometimes have different views on raising Sienna so trying to co-parent can be challenging. It’s probably like that for a lot of blended families.

"But Lewis and I try to keep things like that very private. Sienna isn’t aware of what happened and all that matters is that she has loving parents on both sides."

Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
