Coronation Street character Sally Metcalfe will be one of numerous Weatherfield residents whose life is in the balance when the Underworld roof collapses.

And star Sally Dyvenor has admitted that she had concerns when she was originally told that there was a possibility that her character may die.

"Of course, that's the first thing I said – 'Oh my gosh!'" she told The Sun. "'Gosh, she's just got out of prison. Give her a break!'"

Dyvenor explained that Sally will find herself in danger as a result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, along with her sister Gina Seddon.

"It's a really silly argument, but it comes from something much deeper actually," she explained. "Sally's angry with Gina because she's made a bigger banner than her and she's going to put it up on the roof.

"And Sally says they're all Sally's friends and not Gina's friends, and it leads to a big fight on the roof.
