The first trailer for Kristen Stewart's acclaimed new comedy Sacramento has been released.

The movie, which debuted last year to a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes (since down to a near-perfect 95%), follows two former best friends who take a spontanous road trip together.

In the trailer, we meet Rickey (Michael Angarano), who appears in a tree outside old friend Glenn's (Michael Cera) house after being kicked out of a talk group.

Glenn, who is expecting a baby with Stewart's Rosie, tells his other half that he is trying to "phase" Rickey out of his life, though she is more sympathetic to his friend.

The two then decide to embark on a trip to Sacramento together as Rosie seems grateful to get Glenn out of the house, though Rickey senses on the journey that Glenn is "pent up".

Sacramento was called "ferociously funny" in a review by Loud and Clear, who added that the film "uses its humor to shed light on the difficult questions its lead characters are struggling to answer".

Deadline similarly praised the movie's "examination of strained friendships, the fear of inadequacy in impending fatherhood, and the importance of mental health conversations" that are "handled with a good balance of care and humor".

"Its casual nature and outward lack of ambition belie how well it manages to convey the terror that change brings into our lives," added IndieWire.

Alongside Stewart, Cera and Angarano – who also directs and co-writes – the film stars Mr & Mrs Smith's Maya Erskine.

Sacramento is released in US cinemas on April 11, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
