Danielle Deadwyler's upcoming horror movie has unveiled its first trailer.

The Woman in the Yard follows widow Ramona (Deadwyler), who is grief-stricken after surviving a car accident that killed her husband (Russell Hornsby).

Despite being seriously injured, Ramona tries to take care of her 14-year-old son (Peyton Jackson) and 6-year-old daughter (Estella Kahiha), alone in her rural farmhouse.

"Then one day the woman takes form in their yard. Ramona assumes the woman (Okwui Okpokwasili) is lost or demented, but as the woman creeps nearer and nearer to the house, it becomes clear she is no ordinary figure and her intentions are anything but peaceful," reads the description.

"Now Ramona must rally to protect herself and her children from the grasp of the woman who simply won't leave them alone."

The trailer, released on YouTube, sees eerie snapshots of the rural landscape. A child's voice narrates a chilling rhyme, warning viewers of the horror ahead.

"When the sun is bright and the wind is still. She comes to you like a sudden chill," she begins. "Draped in black, from head to toe. How she got there, you'll never know."

The family notice the ominous figure appearing on their lawn, shrouded in a long black veil. As Ramona goes to investigate, the woman tells her "today's the day" in a creepy sing-song voice and displays her blood-covered hands.

The Woman in the Yard will be released in cinemas on March 28, 2025, and is written by first-time feature screenwriter Sam Stefanak. It reunites Deadwyler and director Jaume Collet-Serra, who also worked together on the 2024 action thriller Carry-On.

The duo will serve as executive producers alongside James Moran and Gabrielle Ebron. Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain are also on board as producers.

The Woman in the Yard will be released in cinemas on March 28, 2025.
