Oscar winner Mikey Madison and Kirsten Dunst have signed up for Reptilia, described as a "dark" and "mysterious" thriller revolving around mermaids.
In her first deal since winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Anora, Madison is joining Spider-Man and Civil War star Dunst in the "unique" new film from director Alejandro Landes Echavarría, who previously garnered acclaim for the 2019 war drama Monos.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Reptilia will tell the story of a dental hygienist who is seduced by a "mysterious" mermaid in the "dark and wet underworld" of Florida's exotic animal trade.
Co-written by Landes Echavarría and Duke Merriman, details for Reptilia are currently scarce. However, it has been reported that production on the movie is due to begin before it's launched for sales at the Cannes Film Market.
The project is Madison's first move since her breakout role in Sean Baker's Anora, which dominated the 97th Academy Awards as it took home five statuettes, including Best Picture, Best Director and the Best Actress prize for Madison.

The comedy-drama followed Madison's character Ani, a New York-based stripper who finds herself in a hectic scenario as she speedily falls in love with and marries Vanya (Mark Eydelshteyn), the wealthy son of a Russian oligarch.
Madison, who also won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress for her performance, previously spoke of the emotional closing scene, which sees her character breaking down in tears alongside Igor (Yuri Borisov) following a tumultuous couple of days.

"So much has happened to Ani over the course of such a short period of time," she said.
"So many emotions have been building up inside of her, so much heartbreak, pain, anger and frustration. She hasn't allowed herself to release any of it.
"I think the film is ultimately a lot about unlikely connections and she is able to finally have a real connection and express herself in a way with Igor, just without words… I was just trying to be in the headspace of the character."
