Jason Isaacs is back on our screens in The White Lotus season three, but it's his appearance on ITV's live coverage of the Oscars that has got people talking tonight.

The star is part of a three-person panel, alongside Mariella Frostrup and Elle Osili-Wood, joining Jonathan Ross to discuss this year's ceremony before and during the event.

And it didn't take long for Isaacs to show that he's not the biggest fan of the Oscars, or awards ceremonies in general, because they don't give actors the chance to really show off their personalities and hinting that it's about the best campaign, not the best movies.

His refreshing honesty has been praised by ITV viewers staying up late for this year's Oscars.

"Whoever at ITV decided to get Jason Isaacs as part of their coverage is a genius," praised another viewer on Twitter/X.

Over on BlueSky, viewers were equally as thrilled by Isaacs: "Hilarious ITV have booked Jason Isaacs as a guest for their Oscars show, who hates awards ceremonies. He's going to be great fun for me."

"I love how Jason Isaacs is cutting through the showbiz veil to say 'oh the Oscars is all about who has the best campaign' and 'awards ceremonies are awful'," added another viewer, with another calling him "fiery".

We'll leave the final word to this genius idea: "Starting a petition to get Jason Isaacs hosting next year's Oscars. Or BAFTAs. Or SAGs. Anything!!"

The White Lotus season three airs weekly on HBO and Max in the US and February 17 on Sky and NOW in the UK. Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Sky and NOW.
