Roald Dahl might not have liked the 1990 adaptation of his novel The Witches, but the film's star Anjelica Huston has called it the "ultimate" version of the frankly terrifying children's story.
Following on from the news that Back to the Future's Robert Zemeckis is set to remake The Witches for a whole new generation, the Grand High Witch herself has spoken out.
Chatting to Entertainment Weekly about her reservations, Anjelica admitted she "[didn't] really know why" an updated version was in the works, adding: "I think Nick Roeg made the ultimate Witches."
She continued: "Frankly, best of luck to them. I hope it works. I just can't imagine anyone trying to remake that particular [film]. Maybe it's a good idea for this generation."
The sass, it's magical.

The legendary actress also delivered her judgement on the film's director, insisting that no-one could replicate Roeg's "particular brand of irony and wit" from the original film.
In a comment that isn't exactly the most supportive of Zemeckis, Anjelica said: "I hope they find a very fine director because that's what they had for the first."
Anjelica's opinions aside, we think the upcoming remake would have had a fan in The Witches writer Roald Dahl, who called the first film "utterly appalling".
The beloved author was said to be disappointed that the film changed the book's ending, which is just as well, because Zemeckis' adaptation is expected to stick closely to its source material.
