Tiffany Haddish, breakout star of 2017 comedy Girls Trip, has been announced as the host of the 2018 MTV Movie and TV awards.

Following up from her stint as the first black female comedian to host Saturday Night Live at the end of last year, Haddish has now confirmed that she's now stepped up to host a whole awards ceremony in a video posted to Instagram this week.

"It's going to be off the chain," she said in the clip. "You know why? Because I'm hosting. And you know what that means? It's going to be hilarious."

We already can't wait.

In a caption, Tiffany added: "So I got some Great News Everybody! I will be hosting the MTV Movie and TV Awards.. make sure you watch Monday June 18th on MTV. The Awards will be in Los Angeles and it will be fun!"

Haddish is the event's first female host since Amy Schumer hosted the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.

She's following in the footsteps of Pitch Perfect star Adam DeVine, who helmed the show last year, and Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, who co-hosted the awards in 2016.

Previously known as just the MTV Movie Awards, the ceremony expanded to cover TV for the first time last year and launched the first ever gender neutral acting award too (which was won by Emma Watson).

Nominations for this year's ceremony are yet to be announced, but after seeing Haddish present the Oscar nominations (and hilariously messing up a lot of people's names in the process), we're already pretty excited to see her presenting chops getting another outing.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards will be held on Monday, June 18.
