Supergirl is out now in cinemas and if you're looking to escape the heat this weekend, you might be heading to the cinema to check out the latest DC movie. Hot off the heels of her cameo in 2025's Superman, Milly Alcock has returned as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl for her own solo outing.

The movie follows Supergirl on one hell of a 23rd birthday around the galaxy, however, she finds herself getting involved with Ruthye Marye Knoll's (Eve Ridley) quest for revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts) for killing her family.

Coming in at roughly 108 minutes and cementing itself as the DCU's shortest-ever films, Supergirl got some pretty positive first reactions as "the best blockbuster of the summer", with a lot of praise being directed at the House of the Dragon's star's performance.

We already know that Alcock will be back in Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, so we don't blame you if you're thinking Supergirl will have a credit scene to set up the next movie. So if you're seeing it this weekend or are currently in the cinema watching the credits, does Supergirl have a post-credit scene?

Sadly, there is no mid or post-credit scene, so you can feel free to leave the cinema when the credits roll. Instead, Alcock's return to the role in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, is cemented in the film's final scene when she reunites with cousin Clark Kent (David Corenswet) back on Earth.

As many have expected, this scene was originally a credit scene. "There was a discussion, but ultimately it was really the scene with Superman. Where that landed, it felt better to be part of the film," director Craig Gillespie told Polygon.

And her role in Man of Tomorrow is said to be a very important one, as DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran told The Hollywood Reporter that following Supergirl's conclusion, Kara's "wild ways" will be a thing of the past.

"Without giving too much away, this movie ends a particular way, and you see where she's going to end up. She's done her wild ways, and now she's going to try to get back in with her cousin and be more on Earth again. That's where she is in Man of Tomorrow," he said.

"It's all more Earth-based. So we have Man of Tomorrow, and we already know what the next movie's going to be after that, and she's a big part of that."

The reviews for Supergirl have been mixed, with The Guardian giving it 3 stars, writing: "Supergirl isn’t a perfect movie by any means, but there are moments when you’ll believe this franchise can fly."

Meanwhile, Empire described it as "blandly safe", and Digital Spy's three-star review called it "enjoyable enough" as a result of Alcock's performance which stops it "completely crashing to Earth".

Supergirl is now available to watch in cinemas.
