Amanda Seyfried has been confirmed to play a classic character in a new Netflix movie. The Housemaid star will appear in animated film Steps, where she voices Cinderella in a new twist on the classic tale.
Also featuring the vocal talents of Beef's Ali Wong and Everything Everywhere All at Once's Stephanie Hsu, the movie will challenge fans to "think again" about whether they really know the 'evil' stepsisters.
"When misunderstood Lilith (Wong) is blamed for hijacking the Royal Ball with a stolen magic wand, she accidentally turns her sister Margot (Hsu) into a frog and leaves the kingdom in the hands of a prince-obsessed mean girl," the synopsis reads.

Lilith is forced to team up with Cinderella alongside "a surprisingly dreamy troll" in order to "save the kingdom, repair the fractured fairytale, and prove that even so-called villains deserve a shot at happily-ever-after".
Directed by Raya and the Last Dragon's John Ripa and Henry's Alyce Tzue, Steps also counts Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler as a producer, with a 2026 release date confirmed (though a specific day is yet to be announced).

Ripa added that Seyfried has "been an absolute joy to work with" and "brings a level of experience and passion that inspires us to dig even deeper into the character" of Cinderella.

Steps will stream on Netflix in 2026.
