Guy Ritchie's new black comedy thriller Wife & Dog has confirmed its release date for later this year. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and James Norton, the film will be released in the US on 23 October by producer and distributor Black Bear, with a UK release date yet to be announced – but expected to be the same.

Also starring Rosamund Pike, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Cosmo Jarvis, Pip Torrens and Paddy Considine, the thriller will explore the "colourful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy" as the powerful Fairbank family find themselves in a succession battle.

Specifics beyond that are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, but it looks like their greed might lead to their downfall.

"There are definitely elements to his genre, but I don't know. I think he's kind of augmented it with a really new flavour," Cumberbatch previously said of the movie, comparing it with the filmmaker's previous works including The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Wrath of Man.

"I don't really want to give much away, but it's quite unique for him. It's quite unique. It's a very soulful piece," the actor continued.
