F1: The Movie has set a new record after an impressive box-office opening.
Deadline reports that the sports drama is on track for a $55 million opening weekend in the United States and Canada.
Although there's still two days to go, the film has already set the record for biggest opening weekend for an Apple Original Movie in the region.
Previous record holder Killers of the Flower Moon made $22 million in the US and Canada in its opening weekend, and it's estimated that F1: The Movie made that much in one day.
The publication states that film is on track to do very well worldwide as well, and despite the belief that it appealed mostly to an older audience, it's actually performing well with the 13-24 age demographic.

F1: The Movie follows the rivalry between a ageing former Formula One driver (based on a real-life legend) and a hot-shot younger driver whose career is taking off.
Although the film was created by Apple and will be coming to AppleTV+, it's being distributed and marketed in collaboration with Warner Bros.
We at Digital Spy didn't love the film, stating in our review that: "F1: The Movie is an empty spectacle. You can appreciate the craft on display in the driving sequences, but it's hard to be fully invested when you don't care about the characters in them. The thrills are on screen, yet rarely translate to the audience.
"F1 fans might also end up feeling short-changed by how much driving that the movie actually contains."
F1: The Movie is out cinemas now.
