First reactions to the film adaptation of hit horror game Until Dawn have seen the film lauded as a "blast" and "gloriously bloody".

Released in 2015 with motion capture and voice acting from the likes of Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, the game saw a group of friends reunite at a remote mountain home a year after two of their friends went missing.

The film follows a fresh set of characters as they are plunged into a horrific Groundhog Day situation where they are hunted by creatures. If they are killed, the timeline resets itself until they can survive until dawn.

Set to be released on 25 April, early reactions to Until Dawn have heaped praise on the video game adaptation, following in the footsteps of The Last of Us, Fallout, and the Minecraft movie.

Bill Bria wrote on Bluesky: "So #UntilDawnMovie is undeniably the MOST horror film of the year.

"Chock full o’ creatures, beasties, creepy production design & an ensemble of game actors, the movie ingeniously capitalizes on the premise’s promise, & it’s a meta horror blast. You wanna see it with an audience!"
