Wanted, James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie's 2008 action thriller, has just been added to Prime Video UK and Ireland.

Loosely based on the comic book series by Marvel writer and Kingsman creator Mark Millar, the film follows a seemingly nondescript office worker who is recruited into a secret organisation of assassins.

There, he learns to tap into superhuman abilities such as bending bullets, and must use those skills to not only get revenge for his father's murder but to also stay alive when he becomes a target.

On Rotten Tomatoes, where the film has a critic score of 71% from 205 reviews, the consensus reads: "Wanted is stylish, energetic popcorn fare with witty performances from Angelina Jolie (playing an expert assassin), James McAvoy, and Morgan Freeman that help to distract from its absurdly over-the-top plot."

Amazon Prime subscribers or users on a free trial can watch the film at no extra cost.

Wanted was a box office success, making nearly $350 million from cinemas worldwide on a budget of $75 million.

While a sequel was confirmed, it remains in development hell. Back in 2020, director Timur Bekmambetov shared an idea about how he'd do a follow-up.

"I cannot imagine an assassin in today's world would run with a gun. Why? He will use drones, he will use computer technology, probably," he said.

"You don't need to bend bullets anymore. You need to bend ideas."

It's not the only 2000s film added to Prime Video over the last few days, as iconic romantic drama The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, is also now available for subscribers to stream.

Wanted can be streamed now on Prime Video UK and Ireland.
