Record-breaking animated movie Ne Zha 2 has finally confirmed a UK release date.
The sequel has already grossed a massive $2 billion in its home country of China (14.5 billion in Chinese yuan) following its release in January, and stands as the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
It has now been announced that the movie will be released in the UK and Ireland on March 21, while previews will begin later this week on March 14.

The movie was given a limited release in the US last month, and will be released in European countries such as Germany, Spain and France.
Ne Zha 2 is based on Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi), and focuses on Ne Zha and friend Ao Bing who are helped to reshape their destroyed bodies while also uncovering a conspiracy that could start a war between good and evil.

The sequel to 2019’s Ne Zha recently overtook Inside Out 2 as the biggest animated film ever and is the highest-grossing film in China of all time, as well as the first non-Hollywood film and first film in a single market to pass $1 billion.

It also currently stands as the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time, as well as the highest-grossing non-English language film ever.
“Rarely do you get a film that truly defines the era, shows again the unique power of cinema to move audiences, and makes an indelible mark on culture. This is Ne Zha 2,” said distributor Trinity CineAsia’s managing director Cedric Behrel (via Variety).
“It signifies a major turning point in further establishing Trinity CineAsia as a pan-European distributor.”
Ne Zha 2 will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on March 21.
