Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon's new rom-com, which has been described as "relentlessly vulgar", has dropped on Prime Video.

You're Cordially Invited follows a father (Ferrell) who discovers that his daughter's wedding venue is double booked, with the other party – led by a wedding planner (Witherspoon) – refusing to move, leading to a comic clash.

The movie is available to watch for Prime Video subscribers globally as of today.

You're Cordially Invited has drawn a mixed reception from critics, and currently stands at 47% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

In a less-than-positive verdict, The Hollywood Reporter said the film "proves a relentlessly vulgar and witless affair that not even the talents of stars Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon and a comedically gifted supporting cast can rescue".

IGN Movies added that it was "overcrowded", elaborating: "There are too many kooky supporting characters, too many broad hijinks, too much syrupy sentimentality when the conflict between these frazzled saboteurs threatens to get too mean."

However, IndieWire suggested that while the plot is "too big", the film "succeeds when it’s just letting the talented goofs do their thing, and that’s a small win for a genre that needs it".

You're Cordially Invited comes from writer and director Nicholas Stoller, who has previously helmed Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bros.

Other stars include Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, Celia Weston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Leanne Morgan, Jimmy Tatro and Jack McBrayer.

Last year, Ferrell released Netflix documentary Will & Harper, which drew acclaim from critics. The film follows a road trip between the star and close friend Harper Steele, who came out as a trans woman after decades of friendship.
