Cineworld has confirmed that another UK cinema is set to close its doors.

The company announced that its branch in Nottingham's The Cornerhouse complex will close on February 2.

It comes after Cineworld revealed 11 cinema closures last year as part of its Restructuring Plan, which aims to secure the long-term future of the company's UK cinema operations and address unsustainable operation costs.

Cineworld said of the Nottingham closure: "After years of providing movie lovers with a place to feel more, we regret to inform you that, following the landlord's decision to reject our proposals, we will be closing Cineworld Nottingham on February 2. We appreciate this is disappointing news."

Last month, it was announced that branches in Castleford, Leigh, Middlesbrough, Northampton and Poole will close on January 19, while Weymouth ceased operating on December 30, 2024.

The company's Restructuring Plan has included cost-saving initiatives such as rent reductions to market levels in order to safeguard jobs, though a number of sites have closed after landlords decided to reclaim their properties.

Cineworld plans to invest £35 million of funding to enhance and refurbish its current cinemas.

"The successful completion of our Restructuring Plan, achieved with the crucial support of our landlords, protects thousands of jobs across the UK and provides us with the financial stability to continue investing in delivering extraordinary experiences for our valued customers," said Javier Sotomayor, President of Cineworld International.

"This milestone sets the stage for a brighter future, enabling Cineworld to continue sharing joy in communities across the UK for many years to come," he added.
