Jean-Claude Van Damme could return to his roots in a reboot of the martial arts film Kickboxer.
Van Damme previously held the leading role in the 1989 movie, but will take on a different part this time around.
The 54-year-old is currently in negotiations to join the modern-day remake featuring Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, to be directed by Dark Tide's John Stockwell, will also star X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Alain Moussi.
Kickboxer will be a role reversal for Van Damme, who previously appeared in the original installment as the lead character Kurt Sloan - a martial arts fighter who travels to Thailand to learn the secrets of the kickboxer with plans to avenge his brother's death.
This time around, Van Damme will play a master teacher previously portrayed by Tony Jaa, who has since exited the film due to a scheduling conflict.
