JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is one of the most perfect bits of comic book movie casting. So fans were delighted when he popped up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing another version of the character in Spider-Man: Far From Home and No Way Home.
But despite being such an important character in the Spider-Man franchise, and such a fan-favourite performance, it looks like Simmons isn't coming back for Brand New Day, which releases this month.
"Not in it, dude," the actor told ComicBook.com.

"I don't know who on the internet decided that [me being in the film] was fact, but I ain't in it."
Although JJJ might not be part of it, Brand New Day looks absolutely jam-packed.
What to Read Next
There's the Punisher, Bruce Banner and the Scorpion returning from previous MCU instalments, the villains Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, and Ramrod, an army of ninjas called The Hand, and Peter seemingly turning into the monstrous Man-Spider.
There's also Sadie Sink, who is heavily rumoured to be playing Jean Grey of X-Men fame, but it's being kept tightly under wraps.

Simmons was speaking to the publication to promote his new series The Westies, a crime drama set in 1980s New York City.
The show follows two men who were childhood friends before their lives took very different paths: one into a life of crime, and the other into the police.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to be released in UK cinemas on 29 July, and in US cinemas on 31 July. The Westies arrives on MGM+ on 12 July.
