Cuba Gooding Jr. has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming Martin Luther King biopic Selma.

The film is set to chronicle King's 1965 voting rights campaign in the US at the height of the civil rights movement.

According to Deadline, Gooding will play King's attorney and fellow activist Fred Gray.

Gray, now 83, became a key figure in the movement, working closely with Dr. King and other leaders.

Tom Wilkinson, David Oyelowo, Oprah Winfrey, and Martin Sheen have already signed on to star in the movie.

Ava DuVernay has been tapped to direct the film.
