A new trailer for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming sci-fi Pacific Rim has been released.
Charlie Hunnam's former pilot Raleigh Beckett explains in voiceover: "We always thought alien life would come from the stars, but it came from deep beneath the sea."
The trailer also highlights Idris Elba as Lieutenant-Commander Stacker Pentecost, the commanding officer who takes charge after the Earth is attacked by giant monsters from beneath the ocean.
Beckett, alongside rookie officer Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), is tasked with piloting one of several giant robots in an effort to combat the threat.
Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini and Ron Perlman co-star in Pacific Rim, which was co-written by del Toro and Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans).
Pacific Rim is released in cinemas on July 12.
