Hocus Pocus will not be getting a sequel, it has been announced.

The 1993 Halloween-themed movie starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as witches who terrorised the children of Salem, MA.

The Kenny Ortega-directed film has developed a cult following and this week rumors emerged that a sequel titled Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch is to be produced.

Disney has now addressed the sequel claims in a statement to The Huffington Post.

"The studio is not developing a sequel to Hocus Pocus," a Disney spokesperson insisted.

The cast of the original Hocus Pocus featured a young Thora Birch and Omri Katz in addition to Parker, Midler and Najimy.
