The Originals has unleashed an explosive trailer for its fifth and final season and it's definitely worth the wait – fighting, burning, new love interests and all.
After the tense season four finale when the Mikaelsons were forced apart, they're back together after a time jump and fighting again. Well, trying to anyway.
It seems like a proper reunion will have serious consequences – apparently a "darkness like we've never known", which means this final season is going to be a huge battle.
We also get a look at the now-teenage Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), who has been away in Mystic Falls at Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted with Alaric and Caroline, honing her rather impressive powers.
There were a few people notably absent, but Caroline (Candice King) has been confirmed as returning, as well as Danielle Campbell's Davina Claire and Leah Pipes' Camille O'Connell.
So, now we know the end is in sight for The Originals, what next for the Vampire Diaries series?
What to Read Next
Well, there's been talk of more spinoffs featuring Caroline and Hope at school, but the season five time jump makes that a little awkward. Still, these are vampires we're talking about – anything can happen.
