There was a cast reunion for both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals at the weekend.

Some of the stars from both TV series were attending the I Was Feeling Epic in Mystic Falls fan convention, which is a reference to the setting of both shows.

Danielle Campbell, the actress who played Davina Claire on The Originals, took to Instagram to make the happy occasion with a string of snaps with her former castmates.

Fans flooded the comments with messages of love and support at seeing the gang back together again. One fan penned: "I want in this group”, as another wrote: "This reunion > > >."

Other devotees of the show were also ecstatic at the photos, a super fan even commented: "You guys are literally my home, even after all these years you all are my heart."

In the second post, Campbell posed with Tonkin, Leah Pipes and Riley Voelkel, and said it was "our version of a High School reunion."

The cast were also joined by some of their old crew, including Julie Plec, the showrunner for both shows, who took to social media to share her joy from the convention.

The producer shared a video on TikTok, showing various cast members as they were eating dinner with the caption: "Had a bit of a family reunion last night."

The Vampire Diaries, which was based on LJ Smith’s series of novels, ran for eight seasons before ending in 2017. The Originals, a spinoff from the parent show, concluded in 2018 following a five-season run.

Both were followed by another spinoff, Legacies, which finished earlier this year after four seasons. Upon news of the cancellation, Plec said she was "concerned" for the hundreds of people who’d lost their jobs.

"We did 331 episodes of television, and a lot of people that worked on season one of Vampire Diaries worked on season four of Legacies," she said. "There was such a beautiful family that we were able to build in Atlanta across these three shows. To think that that's just gone now is sad."

Plec also co-created the Peacock series Vampire Academy, which is a reboot of the 2014 film.

Vampire Academy airs on Peacock in the US, and on Peacock on Sky and Now on September 16 in the UK.
