Sarah Michelle Gellar will star in Bad Summer People, a new series which has been likened to The White Lotus.
As per Deadline, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Scooby-Doo star will also serve as an executive producer on the show, which follows a group of “frenemies” and “master manipulators” after a body is discovered in an “idyllic” island town.
Following Jen Weinstein, Lauren Parker and their respective friends and families, Bad Summer People - which is based on Emma Rosenblum’s 2023 novel - depicts the breakdown of relations as “lifelong grudges” and “secrets” are unearthed following the “life-shattering” discovery.
“Very excited about this!!” said Gellar, who will produce alongside writer Cara DiPaolo, in a post on Instagram. “Thanks to my incredible team @lindenentertainment and #CaraDiPaolo (and @emma.rosenblum for the incredible source material) - this is going to be a good one.”
Several excited fans reacted to Gellar’s post and latest project with enthusiasm in the comment section, with one user writing: “Anything our queen and icon is on I’ll be watching 💗💗💗 so excited”.

Whilst Bad Summer People is in the works, Gellar recently provided an update on the proposed revival of Buffy, sharing: “We've set up our offices, which means things are progressing probably faster than I'd anticipated.
“But it's going to be a process, I think. To do it the way it needs to be done, everyone has to be patient with all of us, because this isn't something that [will just happen],” added the star, who can currently be seen in Dexter: Original Sin.
Bad Summer People has no release date.
