Sarah Michelle Gellar has issued an exciting update for Buffy fans, sharing that the revival is progressing "faster" than she'd thought.

In February, a continuation of the beloved vampire slayer saga was announced at Hulu, with Gellar in talks to reprise the titular role — albeit in a recurring capacity rather than series lead.

Last week, Gellar said the series is coming together at a steady pace, but she asked fans be patient.

"We've set up our offices, which means things are progressing probably faster than I'd anticipated," Gellar told People. "But it's going to be a process, I think."

"To do it the way it needs to be done, everyone has to be patient with all of us, because this isn't something that [will just happen]," she added.

The upcoming series will have Eternals' Chloé Zhao direct and executive produce the pilot, with Nora and Lilla Zuckerman serving as main writers, showrunners and executive producers.

Dolly Parton, who was an uncredited producer on the original series, is also returning.

Weighing in on the decision to reprise the role of Buffy despite previous doubts, Gellar credited Buffy producer Gail Berman for introducing her to Zhao, a fan of the OG show.

"I have always listened to the fans and heard your desire to revisit Buffy and her world, but it was not something I could do unless I was sure we would get it right," Gellar said in a statement last month.

"I feel so lucky to be on this journey with these four unbelievably talented women, all of whom love Buffy as much as I do. And as much as you do. Thank you to all the fans who never stopped asking for this. This will be for you."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer can be streamed in full on Disney+.
