Sarah Michelle Gellar is reportedly in final talks for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series.
According to Variety, a sequel series of the beloved show is nearing a pilot order at Hulu, with Gellar in final talks to play the titular character in the currently untitled project.
Written by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, the sequel show is said to focus on a new Slayer, with Gellar returning to the role in a recurring part rather than series lead.
Attached to direct the newest Buffy is Chloé Zhao, who will executive produce the show under her Book of Shadows production banner.

ITV recently announced that all seven seasons are set to arrive on the ITVX streaming service as part of its winter line-up sometime between now and March.

While Gellar herself won't be appearing in the movie, as her character from the original movie is dead, she has been supporting her husband Freddie Prinze Jr who stars in the sequel.
After sharing a picture of a chair with the movie title on it to her Instagram, Gellar said she was told off.
"You would think that being in my position, I know what rules are on sets when they say 'closed sets'," she said in an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark.
She added: "Then I found out that they hadn't posted any pictures from the set yet [because they] hadn't announced they started filming. Yeah… that was an 'Oops! My bad!'"
Buffy the Vampire Slayer can be streamed in full on Disney+.
