NBC's anticipated Suits spin-off series Suits: LA has landed a disappointing score on Rotten Tomatoes following its first reviews.
The Los Angeles-based spin-off, which premiered on Sunday (February 23), stars Arrow's Stephen Amell as former New York federal prosecutor Ted Black, who moves to LA to build his own law firm with old friend Stuart Lane (Josh McDermitt).
However, Ted soon finds himself at "a crisis point" as he's forced to "embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career".
Despite the success of its predecessor, Suits: LA has failed to impress critics, landing a score of just 35% from 20 reviews on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.

What to Read Next
Rolling Stone
"Aaron Korsh is back as creator, but he either fundamentally misunderstands the appeal of his earlier work, or is trying much too hard to avoid being accused of repeating himself. The result feels unlikely to satisfy anyone with affection for the original."
Variety
"Suits: LA has the same nuts and bolts that made the original show such a sensation, first on USA Network and then on Netflix, but it lacks the foundation, characters or storylines to sustain renewed interest."
The Guardian
"Like Frasier, How I Met Your Father and the Gossip Girl 2.0 before it, the new Suits is an echo of the original that neither embodies enough of its ethos to satisfy nor sufficiently differentiates itself to stand alone."

Screen Rant
"Suits: LA expands Aaron Korsh's franchise with new lawyers to follow, but those hoping for a new Mike and Harvey should temper their expectations."
TIME
"The result is something closer to a generic procedural than the show that originally broke out on the USA Network."
People
"Unfortunately, Suits: LA doesn’t have Suits' smoothness, sexiness or snap, all of which probably had something to with the original’s enjoyable, easygoing shallowness."
