Thandie Newton and Melissa George have been cast in NBC's The Slap.
The pair join Peter Sarsgaard, Mary Louise-Parker and Zachary Quinto in the show which is based on an Australian drama of the same name.
The eight-episode domestic drama, based on a novel by Australian author Christos Tsiolkas, examines the repercussions for a group of friends after one person slaps another's child at a barbecue.
Reprising her role from the original version, Melissa George will play Rosie, while Newton is cast as Aisha, a doctor, wife and mother.
Newton is currently starring in DirecTV's Rogue, and is best known for her roles in Crash, Mission: Impossible II and RocknRolla.
George rose to fame in Home and Away, before finding success in Grey's Anatomy, Alias and The Good Wife.
