Strictly Come Dancing is adding a brand new challenge to the live show to give the celebrities taking part an extra bit of pressure as the final looms. Once this weekend's Blackpool special is out the way, it will reveal who will be going on to take part in the 'Instant Dance' challenge.

The challenge will see the remaining couples each pick a dance style at random from ones they've learnt in the competition so far. They will then be played their accompanying music and have a frantic dash through the wardrobe department to change into their costumes.

Once they're suited and booted, they'll get just 10 seconds on a countdown clock to decide how they're going to dance.

After all six remaining couples have taken part in Instant Dance, the four judges will award each pair points, from six for the dance they liked the most, to one for their least favourite.

The brand-new challenge will be part of the live show Saturday, 29 November live show after the contestants have all danced in the usual way.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas said: "'Instant Dance' has the power to change everything for our couples, and will challenge them in ways they have never been challenged before.

"With standards so incredibly high this year and the competition so close, there's a lot resting on it. The dance styles, costumes and music might not be revealed until the night, but what we can be sure of right now is that it's going to be a whole lot of fun. I cannot wait!"

This week's show (taking place on Saturday, 22 November) will take place in the famous Blackpool Tower ballroom.

Sadly, Vicky Pattison won't be one of the seven couples performing, as she and pro partner Kai Widdrington became the seventh couple to be eliminated from the competition at the weekend.

On the results show after their elimination was announced, Vicky said: "It was so lovely while it lasted, and I've had the nicest time.

"I knew this week was a difficult one for me, and I tried my hardest as I have every week. Listen, I didn't think I'd get past week one."

Kai also paid tribute to Vicky, praising her dedication following their departure.

"You not only conquered your fears and your nerves, but you showed the world what an amazing dancer you are and how far you’ve come from being a complete novice," he wrote on social media.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
