We're on the verge of seeing the takedown of Jonathan Ross on The Celebrity Traitors, and we're here for it. In the final moments of Wednesday night's episode, we saw his fellow Traitors Alan Carr and Cat Burns plotting to throw him under the bus – if necessary – to save themselves.
Nothing personal against Jonathan, but this has seemed inevitable since the three of them first united under cloaks and the cover of darkness in the turret – even if we do admit to being a bit surprised that it's happening quite this fast.
The talk-show host appeared to appoint himself as head Traitor from that initial moment, despite the fact that Cat immediately stood out to us as being the one with the smarts to pull everything off. She has consistently made the most valid points when discussion has turned to who they should murder next, and she has also managed so far to fly mostly under the Faithfuls' radar. There's a cool, calm and collected feeling there that should see her go far.
Jonathan has been the total opposite. He's brought his usual Main Character Energy, which might work when fronting a show, but here in the castle has meant that he's standing out a mile. Take last night's episode as another example: rocking up to breakfast dressed as an ode to Claudia Winkleman is a bold move, and one that only draws more attention.
We know what you're probably thinking. Alan Carr hasn't exactly been a wallflower, delivering hysterical one-liners at every turn and sweating his way through every speculative chat about who the Traitors could really be. But he's actually now starting to prove himself as being better at the game than anybody thought possible (unless you're Clare Balding).
Jonathan pushed Alan forward as tribute to take on the first of their fatal tasks. In fairness to Ross, he probably made that suggestion out of pure desperation, wanting to get all three of them through it unscathed. He argued that Alan would be the least conspicuous when touching the face of another game player, logic that we still don't fully understand. But regardless of the thought process, this move did put the comedian out on a risky solo mission – one that could easily have sent him packing.

But in a delightful twist, Alan got away with the absolutely savage move of 'murdering' his close celebrity pal Paloma Faith. Not only that, he even gave her eulogy (again, prompted by Jonathan Ross) and this cheekiness seems to have awoken an inner Traitor that even Alan didn't know he had. Linda would be so proud.
What's more, Alan is so loud and charismatic that the Faithful crowd seem to think that he couldn't possibly be a Traitor (again, unless you're Clare Balding). It's the perfect alibi, the ideal cover story, and so far at least it seems to be working.
Out of the three current Traitors, Jonathan Ross is getting the most heat from the group – and we predict this will only gain more momentum (whether he goes ahead with his "triple double bluff thing" or not). The Faithfuls are clutching at straws, after all, so any tiny slip – whether genuinely innocent or not – could influence that herd mentality that we've seen play out too often. Just ask poor Niko.
Some of the very best scenes we've ever seen on The Traitors have been watching the Traitors turn on one another. Alan and Cat are already on board with that idea, and we can't wait to watch it play out.
It also means there's a chance of recruitment, and we've already made our case for Celia Imrie to get her cloak.
As we've said, let that downfall commence.
The Celebrity Traitors airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9pm, and streams on BBC iPlayer. Companion show The Traitors Uncloaked follows straight afterwards on BBC Two.
