Love Island star Danny Bibby has shared shocking footage of his "dream car" exploding into flames.

The season 7 star took to Instagram this week to reveal that his McLaren 720S sports car was destroyed after catching fire.

Posting a montage of clips, which showed the car engulfed in fire on the side of the road before being put out by firefighters, Danny captioned the post: "How’s your Monday?"

Fans were quick to ask what happened to the vehicle, with Danny the following up the post with a clip entitled: "What happened to my car…. (Hope this answers the DMs)."

He explained: "I appreciate everyone messaging me, I've had about 500 messages. I was just driving at about 30 mph, and then next minute the car changed gear and then the backend was just on fire.

"I basically had to just sit and watch my dream car burn to the ground, and everyone was sat there watching it," he continued. "It's pretty sad.

"Obviously it's just a setback. I'm trying to see the positive in it – I'm not quite sure what that is yet. It's happened for a reason, but I don't know what that is yet."

Fans shared their support in the comments, one writing: "Scary that. At least you're safe and not injured."

"I'm so glad everything is fine," another added, while a third said: "At least you are okay, I know it was your dream car - a car can be replaced, but you can't be replaced."

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
