Strictly Come Dancing star Vito Coppola has left fans devastated after announcing some sad news online.

The professional dancer shared he will miss the remaining dates of the Strictly live tour after sustaining an injury.

Vito was set to join partner Sarah Hadland for the UK tour but was forced to miss the opening shows in Birmingham. He announced on Instagram that we was hopeful he would be able to rejoin the tour for the remainder of its run, but today said that would not be possible.

He shared a video on his Instagram page dancing with the Miranda actor, whom he nicknamed Trilly, writing a tribute to her in the caption.

"This is the way I would like to remember this tour Trilly," he began. "Even though I won’t be able to be with you on the Strictly arena tour, we had the chance to dance one more time together and it has been as always super beautiful and memorable.

"Let’s always see the glass half full and to stay, keep and spread positivity. We have closed the circle of our journey Trilly and I am glad that we have lifted the trophy together. Team Tiramisu for one last time."

He went on to say that he will continue to "cheer for" his partner, and will come to watch the live shows whenever he can, joking: "You won’t get rid of me."

The TV star continued: "Keep shining Trilly, you are full of life. You are a beautiful person, an amazing woman and the best mom. You know that I mean it!!!"

He went on to send well wishes to the rest of the professionals and stars on the tour, writing: "Good luck to everyone and don’t have too much fun without me. Jokiiiing… Have the best time and enjoyyyyy.

"Thanks to all you beautiful people for the support, for the lovely messages and for everything you constantly do for me. You make me feel loved and warmly welcomed. Keep Danciiiiiiing."

In the comments section, he shared more details about his injury and recovery, and assured fans he would be present for the planned "dance with us" sessions with judge Shirley Ballas in Manchester, Nottingham, and London.

He added: "Even though I am not able to lift and dance full out during an entire show, the recovery is going well and I am giving my best in order to be back soon and stronger!!!."

Sarah penned a simple message in the comments section, writing: "Love you Vito."

Vito previously confirmed that he will be replaced on the tour by Nikita Kuzmin.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
