The Traitors spoilers follow.

The Traitors star Kasim Ahmed has responded to his dramatic departure in an Instagram post.

The star found himself at the end of many players' suspicions during his run on the latest season of the BBC show, despite being a Faithful.

In last night's (January 8) emotional roundtable, Kasim was voted to be banished by his fellow contestants after days of being targeted.

However, in his iconic exit, the star appeared to initially tease he was a Traitor, before confirming he was a Faithful at the last moment.

Taking to his Instagram page after the episode aired, Kasim posted a selfie with fellow stars Joe and Leon.

He also confirmed that he'd formed post-show friendships with both Joe and Jake – despite the two voting against him at round tables – while also praising the "opportunity" to take part in the show.

"What an opportunity, and what amazing support you've all given me!" he wrote. "But most of all, as a cast we were a family, together for weeks and made bonds that are unbreakable, and the support and love we have for each other is even greater.

"Joe and Jake may have led the charge against me in the game, but have been an excellent support in the real world and are some of the loveliest people I've met (and I've met a few!). Remember that all of us are people, and that we all act in different ways under stress.

"TRAITORS FAMILY FOREVER!!" he concluded.

Following Kasim's banishment, contestants Leanne Quigley and Minah Shannon (who is a Traitor) were given immunity shields by returning stars Fozia Fasil and Alexander Dragonetti.

Things then ended in a cliffhanger as Traitors Minah and Linda Rands decided to seduce a new member to their ranks among Fozia, Anna Duke and Freddie Fraser.

The Traitors airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
