Strictly Come Dancing star Layton Williams has landed an unusual new role in the West End.

The Bad Education star, who finished as a runner-up on last year's season of the BBC dancing show, will appear in anticipated jukebox "musical fantasia" Titanique.

Announced earlier this year, the show transfers from off-Broadway this December to London's Criterion Theatre, and parodies the blockbuster 1997 movie from the perspective of Céline Dion.

"We're overjoyed to see this production come to life in the UK, and thrilled to have brought together this dream team to launch our West End season," said producers Eva Price and Michael Harrison.

"When we first set out to cast Titanique, we knew we needed an ensemble that could bring the perfect mix of humour, heart, and talent to this wildly fun show.

"We can't wait to welcome them all aboard the ship in London and for audiences to experience the star power this cast will bring to our story."

Titanique explores "what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night". The show will give Dion's "totally wild take" on the story through her song catalogue, and is described as a "one-of-a-kind theatrical voyage bursting with nostalgia, heart and campy chaos".

Layton recently starred in the ongoing revival of Cabaret in the West End, taking on the role of Emcee alongside Heartstopper's Rhea Norwood as Sally Bowles.

Titanique opens on December 9 at the Criterion Theatre in London's West End. Tickets are on sale now from London Theatre Direct and TodayTix, among others.
