Noel Edmonds debuted his gameshow follow-up to Deal or No Deal tonight, and it was... interesting.

Noel's Sell or Swap Live - currently just a one-off - is a 'live auction show' where participants in the studio try to sell items to bidders at home. As the name suggests, viewers can also offer to make a swap for items.

On Twitter, people were throwing around words like "shambles" and "chaos", and yet there was also a feeling that they'd just watched car crash TV at its finest.

Summing up the bizarre nature of the programme, one Twitter user wrote: "Stumbled across a show from a parallel universe where eBay or the internet doesn't exist, and Noel Edmonds is a popular TV host #SellOrSwap."

Similarly capturing the confusion about why these people weren't just selling their items online, another wrote: "Why didn't Ring man put it on eBay? Why didn't any of them put it on eBay? WHAT'S HAPPENING #sellorswap"

As well as the premise suggesting everyone involved had never encountered the internet, there were other signs that the clock had been turned back a bit too much - particularly when an auctioneer chastised a man for being "outbid by a woman".
