It might've been based on a John le Carré novel, but critics were quick to make comparisons between The Night Manager and the work of another spy writer - Ian Fleming.
Tom Hiddleston's lead performance saw him become a hot favourite to replace Daniel Craig as 007, while director Susanne Bier has also been linked to the next Bond film.
"James Bond is such a mythical thing and there's always been rumours," Bier said last night (October 10) at The Night Manager: Anatomy of a Hit, a Royal Television Society event.
"As long as I can remember, there's been rumours about James Bond and about the Bond girls and about all sorts of things."

"They're both spies," she said of comparisons between Hiddleston's character Jonathan Pine and Bond. "So I don't think it's surprising. I think it's in the nature of the genre."
What to Read Next
Hiddleston might have to wait his turn in line if the latest Bond buzz is anything to go by, with Daniel Craig insisting that he's "got the best job in the world" and would "miss it terribly" if he quit the role.
Idris Elba, Poldark's Aidan Turner and Happy Valley's James Norton are among the actors rumoured to be in line to replace Craig.
Whoever ends up playing Bond in the next film - the 25th movie in the long-running franchise - 007's next adventure isn't expected to reach cinemas until at least 2018.
Could Bier end up behind the camera? As the only living woman to have won an Oscar, an Emmy and a Golden Globe, she'd definitely be a get...
