An iconic EastEnders star is the protagonist of a noir series, which has climbed the streaming charts on Channel 5 five years after it first made the air. Charlie Brooks, known for playing villain Janine Brooks, leads the cast of thriller series Lie with Me, created by Neighbours' Jason Herbison, who also co-wrote and executive produced it.
Originally airing in 2021, the four-part series follows British couple Anna and Jake Fallmont, played by Brooks and Brett Tucker, relocate to Australia for a fresh start in the aftermath of an affair. There, they hire nanny Becky Hart (Phoebe Roberts), but the young woman ends up wreaking havoc to their lives.
Branded a "suburban noir thriller" in the series description on the streamer, Lie with Me has jumped up the Channel 5 charts and currently occupies the top spot, ahead of two Jo Joyner series, motherhood thriller Little Disasters, also starring Diane Kruger, and Riptide, also hailing from Herbison.

Brooks was last seen on the Square during the dramatic events of Christmas 2022, with a car chase ending up claiming the life of the beloved owner of The Vic, Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer. Mick and ex-wife Linda, played by Kellie Bright, had gotten closer again despite him being engaged to Janine.
After Mick and Janine tied the knot just before Christmas Day, the truth about her scheming against Linda was revealed. Janine had been trying to drive a wedge between Mick and Linda by taking advantage of her struggle with alcohol addiction.

After Janine planted alcohol bottles at Linda's place so her daughter Annie would be taken away, the villain's actions were exposed. Mick confronted Janine, with a fight between her and Linda ensuing and resulted in a cliffside car crash.
Mick sprang into action to save a drowning Linda, ending up missing at sea.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
