It's another packed weekend for sports fans, with several of the summer's biggest competitions taking centre stage across the UK's broadcasters. While Wimbledon enters its second week and the FIFA World Cup continues to gather pace, there's plenty more live action to enjoy.
Formula 1 arrives at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, the Tour de France gets underway, England face India and Australia in two huge cricket clashes, and ITV continues its coverage of the UEFA Nations Championship.
Whether you're planning to spend the weekend following one tournament or dipping in and out of the action, here's everything you need to know.
Nations Championship 2026
ITV's live sport begins on Saturday (4 July) with coverage of the Nations Championship as international rugby returns to our screens.
The new competition pits the world's leading northern (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy) and southern hemisphere nations (Argentina, Australia, Fiji, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa) against one another.
ITV's coverage begins on Saturday morning, with New Zealand taking on France before Australia and Ireland are set to go head-to-head. Their confrontation will then be followed by Wales' match against Fiji, early in the afternoon.
What to Read Next
Attention will then switch to ITV4 for England's heavyweight clash with South Africa from 4.40pm, before Argentina and Scotland's match. The tournament will then return to ITV from Saturday 11 July.
Formula 1 British Grand Prix
Formula 1 arrives at Silverstone for one of the biggest events on the calendar. Saturday's (4 July) coverage will focus on the qualifying highlights that will determine Sunday's British Grand Prix, with every driver hoping to secure a strong starting position around one of the fastest circuits in the championship.
More than half a million fans are expected across the weekend, while viewers at home will only have to tune in to Channel 4 to follow all the action.
FIFA World Cup
The World Cup antics continue with huge confrontations set to air this Saturday. ITV's coverage will begin as Canada take on Morocco before tournament favourites France face Paraguay later on, with both matches deciding who progresses to the quarter-finals.
England booked their own place earlier this week after defeating DR Congo 2-1 and now turn their attention to Monday's anticipated meeting with Mexico. With the competition entering the business end, every match is now win or go home.
Tour de France
The 2026 Tour de France gets underway this weekend with its launch in Barcelona, beginning three weeks of racing across more than 3,000 kilometres before the traditional finish in Paris at the end of the month.
Riders will tackle 21 stages featuring mountain climbs, steep hills and summit finishes as they battle for the famous yellow jersey. Channel 5 will broadcast the tournament highlights from 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
England cricket double-header
Cricket fans will have two England fixtures to enjoy across the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, Channel 5 dedicates its broadcast to the men's side as they continue their IT20 series against India, with both teams looking to build momentum.
Sunday's attention then turns to the women's team, as they renew their rivalry with Australia for the T20 World Cup final. The match will be available to watch on Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event from 2.30pm on Sunday.
