Graham Norton has excitingly teased a potential Kylie Minogue and Madonna collaboration on the latter's new album. Madonna is due to release her anticipated 15th LP Confessions II next week, a sequel to her seminal 2005 effort Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Norton has now spoken about meeting the Queen of Pop for his new BBC special Madonna & Graham, which airs this evening, revealing that it includes a crossover with another pop icon.

"We’re in a little bar at the top and oh I think I can say this now, because I think it's leaked to the papers today – a little bar at the top, me and Madonna and – oh I’d like a drink – bar tender turns around… Kylie," he recalled on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Gary Davies. "Kylie Minogue. Kylie Minogue was there. I was in a room with Madonna and Kylie Minogue."

Graham quipped he was in "gay heaven" and that it was "weird" to see the two superstars together, before going on to tease: "I don’t know if you’ve heard this. This rumour that there's a Kylie-Madonna collaboration on the new album.

"I still don’t know if there is. You know when she turned round I went well this is presumably you confirming that you're on this album. No, still not confirming."

Graham added that he had "heard quite a lot of" Confessions II, though still doesn't know "if there’s a Kylie collab".

We certainly cannot wait until next Friday to find out.

Elsewhere, Madonna has revealed why her planned biopic starring Julia Garner was shelved a few years ago.

"I was supposed to make a movie about my life," she told Interview. "I worked on my script for two years and spent two years at Universal Studios with the line producers doing budgeting and casting.

"We had a falling out, me and Universal, regarding budget because I needed – I’ve had an extraordinary life. I’ve had a huge life, so I needed a big budget. You know what I mean?"

She then found a way to make it for less in Serbia, though the studio wasn't keen, while a potential Netflix series also didn't pan out.

Madonna & Graham airs this evening on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 10.40pm.
